The Road to Happiness

“To live, man must hold three things as the supreme and ruling values of his life: Reason—Purpose—Self-esteem. Reason, as his only tool of knowledge—Purpose, as his choice of the happiness which that tool must proceed to achieve—Self-esteem, as his inviolate certainty that his mind is competent to think and his person is worthy of happiness, which means: is worthy of living.” Ayn Rand

  1. For my master’s (2010), I had a class in criminology theory and our readings were from a post-modernist anthology. Our classroom was on the 7th floor. I asked my classmates if they thought that the procedures used by the elevator repair guy were just a “socially constructed narrative” or if our safety depended on objective facts. I got no repllies, but that in itself said everything.
